Treasuring God Together
(Small Groups)
At the centre of what we believe at Ambleside Baptist Church is the conviction that we were made for God. We hold to the precious truth that all human beings are from Him, through Him, and for Him. That is to say, all of us were made for God’s glory, to reflect Gods glory, and to enjoy God’s glory. And this comes together in the phrase “Treasuring God”.
We believe that God is not only “a” treasure in the universe, but “the”treasure of the universe, and more. He is the Treasure to end all treasures. The Joy of all joys. Therefore, to Treasure God is to treasure Him Above all things and In all things. Above all things means that God is the fullness of Joy we were made for. In all things means that God is the forever Joy we were made for. With this conviction, we believe that a person’s greatest contentment, purpose, and happiness is found only in knowing God and enjoying all that He is for us.With that end in mind, by being apart of a small group, you are committed to seeking the good of your brothers and sisters, namely, their Joy in God.This, we believe, is the achievement and goal of all outward acts of love. To love one another IS to pursue each others greatest good: God himself.
The purpose of meeting together regularly and often is to live out Hebrews 3:12-14, and Hebrews 10:23-25. Behind the conviction for TGT groups is the belief that we are in a battle against sin’s deceitfulness, which inclines our hearts towards unbelief, leading us to turn away from the living God.Therefore, the purpose of meeting together is to encourage one another to not turn away from the Living God, but towards Him; to not be deceived by sin, but convicted and convinced of the Truth: You were made for God. And all this is summed up in the phrase “Treasuring God Together”. Our salvation is a community effort. We desire all people to not only be saved, but to persevere to the end, and so receive their reward and treasure in Heaven: Jesus Forever.
Our Vision: We exist to glorify God by seeking Him so as to enjoy Him above all things, in all things, through Jesus Christ, for the Joy of the saints, and the praise of His Name.
